Artists First Signs Genre Filmmaker Alexander Henderson

Deadline · 2 hours ago

Talent management company Artists First has signed Alexander Henderson, a self-taught filmmaker who built his career through YouTube, in what was described as a competitive signing. The move reflects a broader trend of traditional Hollywood representation firms courting creators who have already proven their storytelling ability and built sizeable audiences online, as Henderson looks to move from independent, creator-driven work into mainstream film and television.

Henderson runs the YouTube channel AlexanderTheTitan and made his name with the horror short Mama Agnes, which has drawn more than 10 million views; his wider body of work, including the 20-episode series VCR Willie and two self-funded features, VCR Willie: Tape 1 and The Red Nightmare, has amassed over 60 million views in total, all produced without outside financing. A former collegiate athlete who briefly considered professional football, he favours horror and suspense set against everyday, grounded backdrops, and, as a Black filmmaker, hopes to bring underrepresented perspectives to the genre while keeping his accessible, fan-focused approach to storytelling.
