Talent agency Artists First has signed James Ortiz for management, adding him to its roster as the actor, designer, playwright and director continues to ride high on the success of "Project Hail Mary". Ortiz co-starred as Rocky, the alien companion to Ryan Gosling's character, in the Amazon MGM Studios sci-fi hit, which has raised his profile significantly and marks a notable career milestone alongside his established theatre work.

"Project Hail Mary", directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller and based on the Andy Weir novel, took over $683 million worldwide and is now streaming on Prime Video. Beyond film, Ortiz is an acclaimed theatre figure, having won a 2022 Drama Desk Award for his dinosaur puppets in "The Skin of Our Teeth" and a 2016 Obie Award for "The Woodsman", while also being recognised for his portrayal of Milky White in Broadway's "Into the Woods". He is also co-founder of theatre group Strangemen & Co and continues to be represented by CAA and Viewpoint.
