As Dubstep’s Popularity Surges, Bass-Focused Rampage Recordings Relaunches Via Strategic Partnership With Monstercat

Billboard · 4 hours ago

Belgian dubstep and drum & bass label Rampage Recordings is relaunching through a strategic partnership with Monstercat, aiming to sign both established and emerging bass music producers. The deal forms part of a $50 million investment programme that Create Music Group, which acquired Monstercat in 2025, is putting into the label across 2026 and 2027, with the funding intended to build up Rampage Recordings' global infrastructure and artist opportunities while preserving its distinct identity.

Rampage began as an Antwerp event series in 2009, later expanding into arena shows and its own festival, Rampage Open Air, and has staged sets at events including Tomorrowland and Sziget. Rampage Recordings, launched in 2018, has released hundreds of tracks from artists such as Noisia, Virtual Riot and Dirtyphonics, and its first release under the new partnership, Macky Gee's "Onslaught / Shufflin'", arrives on 24 July. The tie-up comes as bass music gains momentum, with SoundCloud reporting a 35% rise in US streams of dubstep-tagged tracks over the past year and drum & bass increasingly featuring on American festival lineups.
