As electric two-wheelers gain a foothold, Belgian startup Any bets on cargo space

TechCrunch ·

Belgian startup Any has unveiled the LUV1, a modular electric motorcycle intended to make two-wheel travel more practical for everyday journeys that typically rely on cars. Its central feature is substantial configurable cargo capacity, reflecting the company’s view that riders need space for shopping, luggage, pets or equipment without losing the speed and flexibility of a motorcycle.

The LUV1 can store up to 120 litres, reaches 100 km/h and uses two swappable batteries for a claimed range of up to 87 miles. Prices start at €7,000, with a €49 refundable reservation fee; Any says it received more than 600 reservations in its first 100 days and has raised €2.75 million. The company is backed by automotive-sector advisers and investors, while designer Lowie Vermeersch leads creative direction.

Electric motorcycles run on rechargeable batteries rather than petrol, and are one option for making short journeys without a car. Their smaller size can make them easier to move through busy streets, but riders often have less room for shopping, luggage or other items.

Any is a Belgian startup developing electric two-wheelers, with designer Lowie Vermeersch leading its creative work. It is part of a wider effort by newer companies to make electric transport useful for everyday trips, alongside established motorcycle and car makers.

Cargo space matters because it can affect whether people can use a two-wheeler for errands and other journeys that might otherwise require a car. Any’s plans also sit within the broader shift towards electric vehicles, where buyers weigh factors such as price, range and charging or battery-swapping options.
