She describes the project as a “word vomit” of personal thoughts and difficult truths, aiming to give listeners a fuller picture of her “beautifully chaotic” personality while moving beyond her established easy-listening sound.

The album opens with the raw, acoustic “If I’m Being Honest”, written informally with co-writers and built around highly specific details Cooke found frightening to release. Other tracks explore different styles, including the disco-influenced “Dance Around It” and “Sleepless in Seattle”, while “The Girl Who Cried Wolf” was added late after a relationship ended as the album was being completed; it reflects her frustration at returning to unhealthy situations.
