BBC World · 2 hours ago

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky said a Russian missile strike destroyed a family home near Kryvyi Rih, killing parents Artem and Olena Voronov and three of their children. He described the attack as a horrific crime and used it to underline Ukraine’s need for Patriot air-defence interceptors against Russian ballistic missiles.

Russia launched more than 70 missiles and over 280 drones overnight, with officials reporting eight deaths and eight injuries in the wider attack. Other Voronov family members were missing, while two children were rescued alive; strikes also caused deaths or damage in Kyiv, Poltava and Lviv, and an object believed to be a Russian missile landed in eastern Poland, prompting a military response.
