A woman has been charged with attempted murder after an 81-year-old man was attacked and seriously injured at a property in Edlington, Doncaster. The case highlights concerns about violence affecting elderly and vulnerable residents in their own homes, and it is now proceeding through the courts.

Jacqueline Massie, 53, of Church Road, Edlington, is accused of attacking the man at a house on St John's Road at around 11:40 BST on Tuesday, and also faces charges of theft from a dwelling and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place. She appeared before Barnsley magistrates on Thursday and was remanded in custody to appear at Sheffield Crown Court on Monday, while the victim remains in hospital, according to South Yorkshire Police.
