Audible adds character guides, AI conversations and book location features
Audible has announced three features intended to make audiobooks more immersive as it faces growing competition from Spotify. They let listeners follow characters, take part in AI-powered story interactions and explore images or extra information about places mentioned in a book.
The character guide launches with Audible’s new production of *Dracula*, showing speakers in real time and offering spoiler-free character cards; Audible says users will later be able to ask it questions. Interactive stories will let listeners speak with characters such as Renfield, with creators helping keep the experience faithful to the book. The guide is also planned for *1984* and *Exoplanet*, while the location feature initially applies to one history and culture title. US audiobook sales reached $2.43 billion in 2025.
