Aussie cricket star Chris Lynn’s secret cocaine ban after drug binge following quarter-final victory
Chris Lynn served a one-month ban after testing positive for a cocaine metabolite on the day Northamptonshire won the T20 Blast. The sanction became public months after it ended, bringing renewed attention to the 36-year-old’s future in professional cricket.
Lynn said he had used cocaine on 15 July and into the early hours of 16 July, after Northamptonshire’s quarter-final win, and the regulator accepted that it was outside competition and unrelated to performance. His sample was taken on 18 July; a proposed three-month suspension was reduced after he completed a substance-abuse treatment programme, and his ban ran from 31 July to 30 August. He has reportedly agreed to join the Melbourne Renegades, though the signing has not been announced.
