Kingswood wins Caulfield Cup as crowds enjoy Melbourne sunshine

Daily Mail ·

Thousands attended the 150th Caulfield Cup in Melbourne, enjoying spring sunshine and a day of racing and fashion. Kingswood won the $6 million race in a close finish, but the event was overshadowed by the death of Ohope Wins after a fall.

Trained by Gavin Bedggood and ridden by John Allen, Kingswood finished ahead of Saint George and Enfjaar; favourite Cosmic Crusader came fourth. Half Yours, involved in the fall, returned to the mounting yard with superficial-looking cuts, while jockeys Jye McNeil and Mark Zahra were taken to hospital for observation and were not injured.
