Australian Medical Drama ‘The F Ward’ Sells to 100 Markets for Paramount

The Hollywood Reporter · 2 hours ago

Paramount has sold Australian medical drama The F Ward to broadcasters and streaming services in 100 international markets, extending the show’s reach well beyond its July premiere on Stan. The sales underline continued global demand for medical dramas and give a prominent international platform to an Australian series centred on struggling junior doctors.

The six-part drama follows medical interns sent to Sydney’s underfunded Pines Hospital after earlier failures, with Anna Friel starring as the demanding head of surgery. Buyers include Channel 4 in the UK, CBC in Canada, JioHotstar in India and HBO Asia, while SkyShowtime acquired rights for 22 European territories and Claro video for 16 Latin American markets.
