Paramount has moved the release of the animated film "Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender" forward from October to July, with the film now set to debut globally on Paramount+ on 25 July 2026. The film continues the story of the acclaimed animated series "Avatar: The Last Airbender", and the schedule change follows a turbulent release history, including an entire leak of the film online in April, which is thought to have contributed to the decision to bring the premiere forward. Paramount has also released the film's first trailer and first-look images ahead of an appearance at San Diego Comic-Con.
The film had originally been due for a theatrical release on 9 October before Paramount shifted it to a direct-to-streaming release in December 2025. Its voice cast includes Eric Nam as Aang, Dave Bautista as Tagah, Jessica Matten as Katara, Román Zaragoza as Sokka, Steven Yeun as Zuko and Dionne Quan as Toph. Directed by Lauren Montgomery with co-directors Steve Ahn and William Mata, and based on the series created by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, it is the first project released by Avatar Studios, the Nickelodeon division founded in 2021, which is also preparing the series "Avatar: Seven Havens" for 2027.

Paramount+ is bringing out an animated film called "Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender", which continues the story of the popular animated series "Avatar: The Last Airbender". It comes from Avatar Studios, a division of Nickelodeon set up in 2021 to expand the franchise, and features a voice cast including Eric Nam, Dave Bautista and Steven Yeun, directed by Lauren Montgomery.
The film's path to release has been unsettled. It was originally planned for cinemas in October, before Paramount switched it to a streaming-only release, and in April a version of the finished film was leaked online in full, ahead of its official launch.
The film matters as the first release under the Avatar Studios banner, which is also working on a further series called "Avatar: Seven Havens" due in 2027, meaning its reception could shape the franchise's future direction.
