Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game Review
Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game brings the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender to a hardcore 1v1 fighting game, and IGN's review finds the core combat exceptionally strong despite the package around it being underdeveloped. Reviewer Mitchell Saltzman praises it as one of the most enjoyable fighters he has played, citing distinctive character movement, animation quality and combo depth, though he notes significant shortcomings such as the lack of adjustable AI difficulty, a limited training mode and online lobbies restricted to just two players.
The game uses three attack buttons alongside a character-specific "Flow" button that governs unique mobility options, giving each of its 12 fighters a distinct feel; Aang, for instance, can use forward hops and glider attacks, while Azula, Toph and Katara each have their own specialised movement and combat techniques. Saltzman describes it as a demanding fighter with a steep learning curve, but says the payoff for mastering its systems is substantial, likening the game's current rough-but-promising state to the growth arcs of the show's protagonists Aang and Korra.
