Avenged Sevenfold has surprise-released a four-track EP, ‘Statica’, continuing its recent move towards independently issued music and more experimental sounds. The 18-minute release follows the band’s 2023 album ‘Life Is But A Dream…’ and uses robotic vocals, science-fiction-style synthesisers and electronic dance beats, underscoring its willingness to depart from conventional metal.

The EP contains ‘Lights’, ‘Statica’, ‘Rejoice’ and ‘Ashes’, although the band had not publicly commented on its release at the time of publication. Avenged Sevenfold is also due to begin a 16-date North American tour with Good Charlotte on 25 July, while its 2025 Latin American dates were postponed after singer M. Shadows suffered a vocal fold haematoma. ‘Life Is But A Dream…’ reportedly opened at number 13 on the Billboard 200 after selling 36,000 equivalent US album units in its first week.
