Avengers: Endgame Encore Runtime Revealed, Seemingly Contains Just 4 Minutes of Extra Footage

IGN · 3 hours ago

Avengers: Endgame Encore, the re-release of Marvel's 2019 blockbuster, will only add four minutes of new footage to the original film, according to a runtime confirmed by AMC Theatres. The move is part of Marvel's strategy to bridge Endgame with the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, though the modest addition suggests a much lighter refresh than some fans had anticipated, with no confirmed deeper ties to Doctor Doom or the multiverse storylines explored in the new film.

AMC's listing puts Endgame Encore's runtime at 185 minutes, just four minutes longer than the original's 181-minute length, with the extra footage reportedly drawn from material shot during Doomsday's production. Director Joe Russo has described the re-release as a way to "create a bridge" between the two films and reconnect with beloved characters. The re-release also carries commercial motives, as Endgame's $2.79 billion box office total sits close to Avatar's record $2.92 billion, meaning a further $127 million could see it reclaim the title of highest-grossing film ever. Endgame Encore hits cinemas on 25 September, ahead of Avengers: Doomsday's release on 18 December.
