Avengers: Endgame Re-release New Footage Runtime Officially Revealed

Polygon · 2 hours ago

Marvel is rereleasing Avengers: Endgame in cinemas this September under the title Avengers: Endgame Encore, adding new footage that ties the 2019 blockbuster to the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday. Director Joe Russo has called the re-release "critically important", saying it lets the studio bridge the story between the two films and continue the arcs of beloved characters, though the move has also prompted speculation about how much has genuinely happened in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since 2018.

According to listings on AMC Theatres, the Encore edition runs for 185 minutes, four minutes longer than the original's 181-minute runtime, making it the longest MCU film released to date. Marvel has not confirmed what the extra scene contains, though speculation centres on Chris Evans' Steve Rogers, given his rumoured return in Doomsday trailers and the fact his last MCU appearance was Endgame's farewell. Avengers: Endgame Encore reaches theatres on 25 September, ahead of Avengers: Doomsday's release on 18 December.
