An award-winning garden from the RHS Chelsea Flower Show has opened to the public after being permanently relocated to Park Hill Flats in Sheffield. The project transforms a communal green space at the Grade II-listed brutalist estate and is intended to create an accessible place for residents and visitors to spend time, rather than simply pass through.

The Campaign to Protect Rural England’s ‘On the Edge’ garden, designed by Sarah Eberle MBE, won both a gold medal and Garden of the Year at Chelsea in 2026. Its centrepiece is a large wooden sculpture of the Greek Earth goddess Gaia, carved from sequoia trees by Chris Wood; it has been reconstructed on site alongside landscaped walkways, while further planting is due later this year. Park Hill residents and a local garden group will help maintain the space.
