Developer Colin Percival has released Route 53 Files, a satirical file system interface for Amazon’s Route 53 DNS service. The project mocks Amazon’s recently launched S3 Files and broader concerns that presenting cloud services through inappropriate abstractions can introduce confusing behaviour and operational risks, although Route 53 Files itself functions.

Percival modelled the announcement on AWS’s S3 Files launch material, including jokes about engineers and AI agents editing authoritative DNS through files and `sed`. He criticised S3 Files’ delayed synchronisation back to S3 after 60 seconds of inactivity and its IAM integration, while cloud commentator Corey Quinn praised the Route 53 project for making Route 53 easier to use than its API.
