Ayaneo unveils its Konkr Pocket Advance, and it’s the GBA handheld remake I was holding out for
Ayaneo has revealed the front design of its forthcoming Konkr Pocket Advance, a retro gaming handheld closely modelled on Nintendo’s original 2001 Game Boy Advance. The reveal matters because it suggests Ayaneo is pursuing a more faithful GBA-style device while adding modern controls and connectivity, though its specifications, price and release date remain unconfirmed.
The handheld has a GBA-like directional pad, top triggers and widescreen display, but adds four face buttons, two extra menu buttons and Konkr branding. GamesRadar estimates the screen could be about five inches rather than the six-inch panel used in the Konkr Pocket Fit; visible features include USB-C charging, a microSD slot, a volume wheel and possibly a 3.5mm headphone jack. Its performance level is unknown, so compatibility with systems beyond the GBA remains speculative.
- Ayaneo’s new handheld closely resembles the original Game Boy Advance.
- Modern controls and ports distinguish it from Nintendo’s 2001 device.
- Specs, price and release timing have not been announced.
