A 19-year-old babysitter, Elijah Mayes, has been arrested and charged with murder after 11-month-old Grayson Walton was found dead inside a couch in Cleaton, Kentucky. Police allege Mayes fabricated messages and falsely claimed that a family friend had collected the child, potentially to create an alibi.

Investigators said Grayson’s body showed bruising and apparent bite marks, while a search of another property allegedly uncovered suspected methamphetamine. Mayes has pleaded not guilty and remains in custody; Grayson’s step-grandfather, Jeff Barnett, was also arrested for allegedly tampering with physical evidence. The investigation and court proceedings are continuing.
