Critics, including Cornell Hillel and law professor William Jacobson, say Piker’s past remarks and criticism of Israel reflect hostility towards Jewish students and a wider culture of intimidation on campus.

Piker previously said America “deserved” 9/11, though he later apologised and withdrew the comment. Jacobson cited earlier disruptions involving conservative speakers, while Cornell said student-hosted events are not university endorsements and are reviewed for safety rather than content; the university stated it would respond to discrimination, incitement or disruption.
