Bad Brains, the pioneering hardcore and punk band from Washington D.C., will release their earliest studio recordings on 6 November. The six-song session, recorded at Inner Ear Studios in March 1979 and remixed by Ian MacKaye of Minor Threat and Fugazi, represents a significant addition to the band's catalogue and provides a window into their foundational sound during the genre's formative years. This release matters because the Bad Brains were trailblazing figures in punk and hardcore, breaking racial barriers in an overwhelmingly white music scene whilst blending rock with authentic reggae influences.

The recordings will be available on vinyl, cassette, and digital formats via Trust Recordings. The EP includes a previously unreleased version of their legendary debut single "Pay to Cum," recorded at CBGB in October 1979. To accompany the release, bassist Darryl Jenifer and Ian MacKaye will appear in conversation on 5 November at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library, and an exhibition of archival Bad Brains material will run from 6–22 November, drawing from multiple contributors' archives.
