Baldur’s Gate 3 Honour Mode player loses 60-hour run with sex

Polygon · 5 hours ago

A Baldur's Gate 3 player lost a 60-hour Honour Mode run, the game's punishing single-save difficulty setting, after a sexual encounter with a demonic character triggered a permanent character death. The incident, shared on Reddit and spotted by GamesRadar, illustrates the risks of experimenting with unfamiliar dialogue choices in a mode designed to punish exactly that kind of curiosity, and has prompted other players to share similar cautionary tales.

The player was nearing the end of their playthrough, with only Raphael and the final boss left to defeat, when they encountered Harleep, an incubus in the House of Hope who offers information in exchange for sex. A dialogue option to offer "heart and soul" rather than just the body resulted in instant, permanent death. Commenters noted that Honour Mode, which forbids save-scumming and locks in consequences, is not the place to try new interactions, though failed runs can be converted into an ordinary Custom Campaign to continue playing.
