Devolver Digital and Kenny Sun have confirmed that BALL x PIT will receive its final free update, named "Naturalist", on 6th August, bringing to a close 10 months of post-launch content for the Switch roguelite. The update matters as it marks the conclusion of an unusually sustained support period for the game, giving both existing fans and newcomers a fresh reason to dive back in before development moves on. The game launched to strong critical acclaim, having been praised in Nintendo Life's 9/10 review for balancing chaotic variety with strategic depth.

The Naturalist update will arrive simultaneously on Switch 1 and Switch 2 and adds two new playable characters, The Ballbearer and The Hoary Hoarder, alongside 11 new balls and five new passive abilities. This continues the pattern of previous updates in offering substantial new playstyles rather than minor tweaks.
