Barack Obama has published his annual summer playlist, a 46-song selection spanning recent releases and older favourites. The post drew particular attention because it opens with Glen Hansard’s “The Song of Good Hope”, with Obama paying tribute to the Irish musician following reports of his death.

The playlist includes songs by Noah Kahan, Charley Crockett, Doechii and SZA, Kelela, Raye, Mumford & Sons and Anderson .Paak, alongside tracks by David Bowie, Earth, Wind & Fire, Luther Vandross and The Police. Several artists publicly reacted to being included, while Obama invited followers to suggest further music; the compilation also features acts including The Beatles, Coldplay, Marvin Gaye, Nina Simone, Neil Young and Johnny Cash.
