Barack Obama has published his annual summer playlist, opening it with Glen Hansard’s “Song of Good Hope” following the musician’s reported death in a motorcycle accident. The former president said he and Michelle Obama loved the song and offered condolences to Hansard’s family, giving the playlist a notably sombre introduction.

The selection mixes newer releases with established classics across rock, folk, R&B, hip-hop and other genres. It includes tracks by the Strokes, Noah Kahan, Coldplay, the Beatles, David Bowie, Vince Staples, Doechii, SZA, Johnny Cash and Neil Young, alongside artists including Drake, Nina Simone and Buena Vista Social Club.
