Barcelona sign Brazil forward Kerolin from Manchester City for club-record £1.25m

The Guardian · 3 hours ago

Barcelona have signed Brazil forward Kerolin from Manchester City for a fee reported to be around £1.25m, the largest sum ever received by a Women's Super League club for a player sale. The deal underlines Barcelona's continued spending power in the women's game even as the reigning European champions bid farewell to several established stars this summer, while for City it marks another shift in a squad already reshaped by the arrival of Beth Mead.

Kerolin, 26, spent 18 months at City after joining from North Carolina Courage in January 2025, helping the club win the WSL title and the Women's FA Cup last season. The fee exceeds the £1m Liverpool received from Arsenal for Olivia Smith in 2025 and the £850,000 Manchester United got from Chelsea for Melvine Malard, and is also a club-record purchase for Barcelona, who have lost Alexia Putellas, Mapi León, Ona Batlle and Salma Paralluelo this summer. Barcelona see Kerolin, prized for her pace and dribbling, as a player who can become a regular goalscorer in the Champions League.
