Barnaby Joyce clashed with ABC 7.30 host Sarah Ferguson during his first appearance on the programme since a July interview in which he was filmed shouting at his dog. The One Nation MP was there to promote his party's proposal to let mortgage holders and renters draw on a portion of their superannuation, but struggled to answer questions about the policy's financial impact, prompting a testy exchange in which he told Ferguson he was "not Jesus Christ" when pressed for detailed figures.

Ferguson challenged Joyce, as the party's Treasury spokesman, to model the lifetime losses different age groups would face under the scheme, citing estimates that a 30-year-old on the average wage of $108,000 could be $94,000 worse off, a 40-year-old $51,000 worse off, and a 50-year-old $27,000 worse off. Joyce dismissed the questions as overly complex and requested more time. Under the One Nation plan, workers could redirect three of the compulsory 12 per cent super contribution into take-home pay for three years, which the party says could give a couple earning $168,000 combined an extra $82 a week, while an individual on $90,500 would gain about $44 a week.
