Barnsley have signed Leicester City forward Amani Richards for an undisclosed fee, with the 21-year-old agreeing a three-year contract. The move matters because it gives Richards a chance to establish himself in senior football after failing to break into Leicester’s first team, while also adding another attacking option to Barnsley’s squad ahead of the new season.

Richards came through the academies at Chelsea and Arsenal before joining Leicester in 2022, but he did not make a senior appearance for the Foxes. He spent part of the 2024-25 season on loan at Exeter City in League One, where he played six matches. He is Barnsley’s third signing of the week, after defender Tyrese Noslin and goalkeeper Cieran Slicker, with manager Daniel Stendel saying the club believe it is the right place for his next step.
