He revealed his cancer diagnosis last December, had surgery shortly afterwards, and later spoke of a difficult recovery that included a week in intensive care with pneumonia. Despite the setbacks, he has continued performing and releasing music, scoring an Adult Contemporary top 10 hit in March and releasing his first album in 15 years, "What a Time," in June.
