Battlefield 6 gets Top Gun: Maverick crossover in latest seasonal update
Battlefield 6 is receiving a Top Gun: Maverick crossover as part of its Season 4: Pacific Front update, released on 21 July, in a collaboration between EA and Paramount Games Studio. The update, described by EA as the franchise's largest seasonal update to date, adds F-18 Super Hornet and F-14 Tomcat fighter jets, along with three Maverick characters voiced by their original film actors, in an apparent bid to draw lapsed players back after a mixed reception to the base game.
The crossover introduces named characters Rooster (Miles Teller), Bob (Lewis Pullman) and Warlock (Charles Parnell), Top Gun-themed cosmetics, and a new naval-combat mode called Carrier Strike, set on a new map, Tsuru Reef. Additional content includes new vehicles such as the RCB-90 Patrol Boat, three new weapons, and a ranked mode for the standalone battle royale spin-off Battlefield REDSEC. Battlefield 6 launched in October 2025 to strong sales, over 7 million copies in three days, but its Steam approval rating slipped from 76% to a "Mixed" 67% amid complaints about the battle pass, balance changes and map sizes.
