Beach Boys Call Off Remainder of Summer Concerts ‘to Recharge’ Before Resuming in Fall
The Beach Boys’ touring group, led by Mike Love, has cancelled or postponed almost 30 summer concert dates from 23 July to 3 September, saying it needs time to “recharge”. The move interrupts one of the band’s traditionally busy touring periods, with performances expected to resume on 24 September.
Tickets for postponed shows will remain valid, although it is unclear whether roughly 20 cancelled dates will be rearranged. The group is marking the US’s 250th anniversary and the 60th anniversary of “Pet Sounds”; Love, 85, is now the only original member in the touring line-up following Bruce Johnston’s retirement earlier this year.
