Beat the iPhone Duo pre-order rush with Apple’s Get Ready tool

Engadget ·

Apple has opened its Get Ready tool ahead of iPhone Duo pre-orders, allowing buyers to choose a model and save payment and delivery details before orders begin on 16 October. The tool is intended to make ordering quicker and improve the chance of receiving the foldable phone on its 23 October launch day, when supply may be limited.

The iPhone Duo costs from $1,999 for 256GB, rising to $3,199 for 2TB. Apple offers up to $885 in eligible trade-in credit and payment plans; its Upgrade programme starts at $57.99 a month but requires customers to return the phone, pay the balance or upgrade after two years. AT&T advertises up to $1,200 for eligible trade-ins, while Best Buy lists AT&T instalments from $55.96 a month.

Apple sells iPhones through its website and app, where popular models can attract heavy demand when orders first open. Pre-orders let customers place an order before a phone goes on general sale, with delivery or collection usually scheduled for launch day.

The iPhone Duo is a foldable phone: its screen opens out from a smaller, closed form. Apple sets the base price and offers trade-in credit and monthly payment options; mobile networks and retailers may advertise separate deals with their own eligibility conditions.

The listed prices and offers affect how much a buyer pays and when they own the phone outright. Trade-in value depends on the device handed in, while some upgrade plans require customers to return the phone or settle the remaining balance.
