Becky G says her fifth album, *Baraja Bendita*, represents a more assured and uncompromising stage in her career, combining pop, rap and Latin genres while reflecting her Mexican American identity. She describes the record as the result of a period of healing and self-discovery, and says it allows her to unite the different artistic sides she has shown throughout her career.

The album, due for release on 14 August and Becky G’s first for RCA Records, includes songs in Spanglish ranging from club tracks to merengue and bachata. It also addresses immigration enforcement, including the duet “Mi Gran Amor” with Carlos Santana, and accompanies her activism with groups supporting immigrants; Becky G says Latino communities deserve both representation and joy during difficult times.
