Bedok South, Xilin and Sungei Bedok MRT stations to open on Dec 26
Three new MRT stations in eastern Singapore will open on 26 December, adding links to the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL) and Downtown Line (DTL). The stations are expected to improve rail access and shorten some journeys, with Sungei Bedok serving as an interchange between the two lines.
Bedok South and Sungei Bedok will complete the TEL’s planned five-stage opening, bringing more than 240,000 households within a 10-minute walk of a TEL station. Xilin and Sungei Bedok form the DTL’s eastern extension, placing more than 220,000 households within a 10-minute walk of a DTL station. A trip from Havelock to Changi Business Park is expected to fall from 70 minutes to about 45 minutes; the combined extensions span 4.3km.
