Beloved US landmark is being quietly blown up with sticks of TNT as part of Trump scheme despised by EVERYONE in Texas

Daily Mail ·

Residents near Big Bend National Park in Texas say they have been blindsided after learning demolition crews have been using TNT for two weeks to blast bedrock in preparation for President Trump's planned expansion of the US-Mexico border wall, according to Border Patrol sources cited by the Daily Mail. Communities including Marathon, Sanderson, Alpine, Marfa and Terlingua had been campaigning against the wall on the understanding that the project was still in its planning stages, and locals describe the news of explosions as a betrayal that has left the area devastated.

Residents fear the wall will damage the region's tourism-dependent economy, deterring visitors who come to raft the Rio Grande and stargaze in the area's Gold Tier Dark Sky Park. Although officials previously pledged no wall would be built inside Big Bend National Park itself, a Customs and Border Protection map reportedly shows two miles of "vehicle barrier" planned within the park, while construction crews are using park land to access blast sites outside its boundary. CBP told the Daily Mail that crews are currently re-grading storm-damaged roads and clearing land to support survey work ahead of construction, but did not directly address the reported detonations.

  • Local residents say they were misled about the project's progress.
  • Fears grow over damage to tourism and the park's dark-sky status.
