The Division 2's new Dust Storm event runs for three weeks and gives players a free-to-play route to strong gear, centred on a reworked New York map. Enemies called Dust Devils spawn there, and defeating them yields Storm Keys, which can then be exchanged for Gear Caches containing weapons, gear parts and even Prototype item sets, making the event a notable opportunity for players to boost their loadouts without spending money.

To earn keys, players must kill Dust Devils and their named members, with the required kill count varying by difficulty (14 on Normal and Hard, 12 on Challenging, 10 on Heroic); defeating the tougher bosses Pall and Black Lung guarantees a key each, while the rare Scourge Hunter drops several at once. Keys are spent at a New York settlement vendor — accessible even without owning the Lords of New York expansion, which is free for the event's duration — on Apparel Caches, Gear Caches or a community cache, alongside hidden caches scattered across the map for extra rewards.
