Beyoncé is donating $1 million to organisations providing emergency relief after a magnitude-7.4 earthquake struck Chocó, Colombia, on 10 August. The funding is intended for immediate food and housing supplies in the hardest-hit communities, where the quake damaged homes, roads and infrastructure and disrupted food supplies.

Parkwood Entertainment said it was directing supporters to Food For The Poor and World Central Kitchen. Other high-profile contributions include $1.2 million from Karol G’s Con Cora Foundation, while a Bogotá benefit concert raised more than 11 billion Colombian pesos (about $3.6 million); Shakira and partners have also pledged $1.25 million to rebuild damaged schools in Chocó.
