Big Brother is a reality competition in which contestants, known as houseguests, live together under constant observation and vote to evict one another. Each week, a Head of Household nominates houseguests for eviction, while a Veto competition gives its winner the chance to save someone and change the nominees.

The game has run for many seasons, with players forming alliances and changing their plans as contestants leave. Its 1,000th episode looked back at notable moments and players, including Dan Gheesling and Janelle Pierzina, whose past records were recognised in a fan vote.

Evictions change the balance of numbers in the house, so each departure can affect alliances and future votes. The remaining houseguests continue competing for safety and influence as the season progresses.
