W.A.S.P. frontman Blackie Lawless says the band has been developing new music for about three years, although touring commitments and his work on a book have delayed progress. The prospective album would be the group’s first collection of new original material since 2015’s *Golgotha*, making it a notable return after a long gap.

Lawless said the band’s extensive North and South American touring, followed by a European tour throughout 2026, has left limited recording time. He previously said demos were promising but uneven, and that he wants any new release to meet the standard of *Golgotha* and compete with W.A.S.P.’s established songs; he also recovered from back surgery after an injury sustained in Europe in 2023.
