Blade Runner 2099 premieres on Prime Video on 25 November

Prime Video has unveiled the first trailer for Blade Runner 2099 and confirmed the limited series will premiere on 25 November. Announced at San Diego Comic-Con, the show extends the Blade Runner franchise into streaming and returns to its dystopian Los Angeles setting, exploring conflict and uncertainty between humans and replicants.
Set 50 years after Blade Runner 2049, the series follows fugitive Cora, played by Hunter Schafer, as she becomes a Blade Runner and partners with Olwen, a dying replicant portrayed by Michelle Yeoh. Executive produced by Ridley Scott and made by Alcon Entertainment, it will stream in 240 countries and territories; its central case concerns a runaway whose secret could destabilise the rebuilt city.

Blade Runner is a science-fiction series set in a future where artificial humans, known as replicants, are made to look and behave like people. Blade Runners are officers who track down replicants that have gone into hiding, often raising questions about identity, memory and what it means to be human.
The franchise began with the 1982 film Blade Runner, directed by Ridley Scott and based loosely on a novel by Philip K Dick. Its 2017 follow-up, Blade Runner 2049, took the story into a later version of Los Angeles, where much of society had been damaged and rebuilt.
The new series is set further into that future and returns to the tension between humans and replicants. Its main characters are Cora, a fugitive who becomes involved in Blade Runner work, and Olwen, a replicant whose life is coming to an end.
