Blade Runner is a science-fiction franchise that began with Ridley Scott's 1982 film, set in a dystopian future Los Angeles where artificial humanoids called Replicants are nearly indistinguishable from real humans. The original story follows a special agent tasked with hunting down rogue Replicants. The franchise continued with a 2017 sequel, Blade Runner 2049.

A new television series called Blade Runner 2099 is coming to Prime Video, set 50 years after the events of the 2017 film. The story follows a character named Cora, who becomes a Blade Runner for one final mission, partnering with Michelle Yeoh's character Olwen, a Replicant nearing the end of her life. Their assignment involves hunting a fugitive whose existence could point to a cure for Replicants.

The series is created and showrun by Silka Luisa, with Jonathan van Tulleken directing the opening episodes. This marks the first television series in the Blade Runner franchise, bringing the exploration of humanity and artificial consciousness to a serialised format. The eight-episode limited series launches on Prime Video on 25 November.
