Blizzard Officially Reveals Overwatch’s Newest Hero, D.Mon, with First Gameplay

Polygon · 22 hours ago

Blizzard has revealed D.Mon as Overwatch’s next hero, introducing her as the second playable member of South Korea’s MEKA Squad alongside D.Va. The mech pilot is designed as a mobile melee tank with a defensive “sword and board” style, giving players another close-range tank option while distinguishing her from D.Va’s more aggressive approach. Her arrival also advances the game’s Busan storyline, where the MEKA Squad faces an attack by the Junkers.

In her mech, called Beast, D.Mon uses a Plasma Sword, a shoulder-mounted Fusion Repeater, a personal shield and a fuel-limited horizontal dash. Her ultimate, Limit Break, damages several enemies, applies a Discord-like debuff and grants overhealth; when Beast is destroyed, she can fight on foot with its repeater before recalling it, causing the mech to reform around her and knock nearby enemies back. Blizzard said her main weaknesses will resemble those of Reinhardt and Doomfist, particularly against enemies using vertical mobility, while her own movement is intended to enable flanking and control of engagements.

  • D.Mon is Overwatch’s new mobile melee tank hero.
  • Her kit combines a sword, shield, dash and mech recall.
  • She expands the MEKA Squad storyline in Busan.
