Bloc Party Share New Single ‘Now We Can’t Be Friends’

Clash · 2 hours ago

Bloc Party have released a new single, "Now We Can't Be Friends", taken from their forthcoming album "Anatomy Of A Brief Romance", due out on 11th September 2026. The track deals with the cold aftermath of a failed relationship, with frontman Kele Okereke saying it reflects how intense feelings eventually fade and that one has to make peace with that shift.

The new album was produced by Trevor Horn and draws on Okereke's own experiences, exploring themes of physical desire alongside the band's familiar pop sensibility. The single itself is built around a frosty synth line intended to evoke the emotional distance between two former lovers. Alongside the release, Bloc Party have announced a run of in-store appearances across the UK in September, including stops in Bury, Kingston, Liverpool, Nottingham, Bristol, London and Leeds.
