Blonde Redhead – “Blood Spilled”

Stereogum · 3 hours ago

Blonde Redhead, the veteran New York indie rock trio, have released a new single called "Blood Spilled," their first new music since 2023's album Sit Down for Dinner. The release matters as a fresh addition to the catalogue of a band with over 30 years of history, known both for its atmospheric sound and for statements such as its solidarity with Palestinian people at last year's Coachella.

Bandleader Kazu Makino, who also created the single's cover art, described the song as a meditation on grief, loss and the relationship between body and soul, reflecting what she called "a relentless season of loss" in recent years. The track, described as lush and oblique, is out now via section1. The article also notes that the Strokes recently covered Blonde Redhead's "This Is Not," from their 2000 album Melody of Certain Damaged Lemons, during a show in Cincinnati.
