Bloodborne 2 hasn’t happened as “getting everyone to sign off” is hard, ex-PlayStation lead suggests
Ex-PlayStation executive Shawn Layden says the rights and approvals needed to revive Bloodborne may be the main reason no remake or sequel has appeared. Sony, FromSoftware and its parent company would all need to agree, making a new project difficult to organise.
Layden also questioned whether a remake could recapture the original game’s impact while respecting it. The article speculates that the closure of co-developer Japan Studio in 2020 may add complications, but presents this as unconfirmed; Bloodborne has had no remaster, PC port or sequel.
In short
- Bloodborne’s rights involve several companies.
- Layden says getting everyone’s approval may be the biggest hurdle.
- Japan Studio’s closure is raised as speculation, not confirmed.
