Blue Oyster Cult’s ‘Reacher’ Synch Hits No. 1 on Top TV Songs Chart
Blue Öyster Cult’s “(Don’t Fear) the Reaper” reached No. 1 on the September 2026 Top TV Songs chart after appearing in the fourth season of Prime Video’s Reacher. The result shows how a television placement can renew interest in a decades-old song, which was the band’s highest-charting Hot 100 hit.
The song featured in episode six, aired on 2 September, and generated 11.8 million official US streams and 1,000 downloads that month. Reacher also placed Mondo Cozmo’s “Sweet Forever” at No. 10, while its spin-off Neagley had two entries, led by Ambrosia’s “How Much I Feel” at No. 6 with 6.7 million streams and 1,000 downloads. “(Don’t Fear) the Reaper” peaked at No. 12 on the Hot 100 in 1976.
In short
- “(Don’t Fear) the Reaper” topped the September TV songs chart.
- Its Reacher placement coincided with 11.8 million US streams.
- Reacher and spin-off Neagley placed three songs in the top 10.
