Bob Dylan brought his summer US tour to a close on 1 August at the Ascend Federal Credit Union Amphitheater in Nashville, ending a run marked by unusual upheaval among his backing guitarists. For the final show, Dylan invited opening act Jimmie Vaughan onto the stage for three songs, continuing what has become a season of shifting personnel within his touring band.

Vaughan joined Dylan for "False Prophet," "I Can Tell" and "Goodbye Jimmy Reed," with witnesses describing warm exchanges between the two, including Dylan repeatedly thanking Vaughan on stage. The pair's musical relationship dates back to Dylan's 1990 album Under the Red Sky, on which Vaughan and his late brother Stevie Ray Vaughan performed; Vaughan had also guested with Dylan's band in Austin in April 2024. The tour itself saw significant guitarist turnover, with Doug Lancio and Bob Britt both departing and being replaced in rotating fashion by Julian Lage, Joel Paterson and Jad Tariq.
