Newly released body camera footage shows a Connecticut police officer repeatedly ordering a man armed with a baseball bat to drop the weapon before opening fire, after the suspect continued to strike another man in the head while he lay motionless on the ground. The footage, released by the Connecticut Office of Inspector General, documents the fatal confrontation in Meriden and is now central to the official investigation into the officer's use of lethal force.

The incident occurred on 19 July and left two men dead, including 38-year-old Robert Lee Jenkins III, whom investigators say was the one wielding the bat. The Inspector General's office is reviewing the shooting, as is standard practice in Connecticut for police use-of-force incidents resulting in death.
