Newly released body camera footage from the Vancouver Police Department in Washington state shows officers deploying a police dog to end a 40-minute standoff with a suspected impaired driver. The man reportedly ignored repeated commands to surrender before the K-9 was sent in to bring the confrontation to a close, resulting in his arrest.

The footage shows the dog leaping through the driver's side window of the vehicle before officers took the suspect into custody. Police said the man had refused to comply with instructions for more than 40 minutes, prompting the decision to deploy the K-9 unit to resolve the standoff safely.
